I work at a local hospital. We have Covid patients. I physically see my 82 year old dad every day and care for him. Should I stay home?
Should I stay home to protect my 82 year old father? Operating office with exposure to orderlies, surgeons, nurses, anesthesia. I am not a nurse only a secretary. Thank you
Thank you for your work in a hospital. It doesn’t sound like you have any patient contact or even close to it. Take proper precautions before seeing your dad and I think all will be well.
Are you taking precautions at work and before going to see your dad? Are your co-workers maintaining proper distance? Are you using a mask? Are you washing that mask daily and are you using a different mask when you see your dad? And in your case I would have a mask to use at work, that was only for work. One to use when taking care of dad and another for your personal use when you go to the store or go out on other errands. (I am sure if I am overboard on this someone will correct me) Is someone else there to care for dad? You say he is living at home, is that his home by himself? or does someone live with him? My feeling..If you take proper precautions, you self check daily (as I am sure you do prior to work) it is safe for you to continue to care for your dad. If you do not feel comfortable though your option is..getting someone to care for him during this time or..take leave from your job to care for him. By the way you are NOT "only" a secretary....without you the people that come to rely on you and your job will have an even more difficult time doing theirs. Thank you for doing your part in all this, what we all do matters.
