I am an agency caregiver and for the last 7 mos I have been doing a live in shift for a woman with dementia and renal kidney failure. I am now no longer working at her home due to what they are saying my response to the pandemic and the fear I had when taking care of her. On one week after reporting my concerns to my boss about her left shoulder pain, they waited a week for my return to take her to the orthopedic dr. found out she had a broken clavicle. Her pain was believably very very bad. During that time after a few days she went into more terrible pain was told to get her to emergency by dr. Following week on Easter she started complaining about not feeling good at all and did end up throwing up alot and fever. All of my actions I followed by protocol when finally being told by dr. she needed to be seen at the hospital. Well the dr. actually called my boss stating that my client needed to be seen by dr. at hospital. I was very scared for her on both ends. In the end the family said no. I do admit that I was quite a bit more anxiety and panic. I was let go due to my actions taken during this time.
What would another caregiver do in this situation? I have been a caregiver for about 4 1/2 years experience also I had no back up or help from my employer.
