Is he forgetting me?

Quick question; Bill is over 11 years into his onset of ALZ, and he has never, not once, thought I was someone other than me. Tonight he asked me “Are you and daddy getting a divorce?” I asked him who he thought I was and he replied, “Daddy’s wife, didn’t you guys get married a while back?”

As far as I know his dad left his life when he was a baby and only came to see him once as a child, so that added to the strange behavior.

I know there is no concrete answer, but what the heck!?! He has been in the end stages of ALZ for months, so is this just another page in the chapter?

I wouldn't get too worried or upset about it. It's a fairly "normal" thing to happen. Since he is end stage, just about anything is possible at this point. Just role with it.

Hi Jennifer. I believe it is just another phase. From what I have read here over the years sometimes a parent or a spouse sees their care giver as a parent figure as your hub is with you. Their reality is so different from normal as the brain changes with the disease. Humoring or distracting may help, 11 years is a long time to have Alz Bless you for caring for him.
