What should my 98yr old grandma's blood pressure be?

AlvaDeer Jun 2020
Blood pressure varies a LOT according to time, circumstances. Think of white coat phobia, when you are in MD office and nervous. BP is way up. They give you meds, you go home and relax and you are just fine. But now your med kicks in, you get up in the night to go pee, and your pressure bottoms from orthostatic changes in position and down you go. '
This is a question for the doctor. Ask for a realistic range. Measure the BP in both arms to be certain they are relatively the same. Measure daily in a.m. and p.m. at home. Keep record for a week; pass it over to the doctor.
Best way to keep track.
This is a "ripe" old age. I would not be worrying about a while lot, in all truth, when your Grandma has got THIS FAR on her own.

My nephew was told to take his blood pressure when he first got up. You take it when "at rest". This will determine if your pressure is high enough to be on medication.

There are nurses on site that may be able to help but normal is 120/80. My nephews dentist won't do a patient who reads over 140/80. So, if you are checking her, make sure she is sitting and has relaxed. Also, arm should be on the arm of the chair relaxed. Take reading in both arms. There maybe a difference. A cuff type of meter was recommended by my pharmacist. She said a wrist type does not give an accurate reading.

This is a good video.

If GM cannot get to doctor, then doctor can prescribe Palliative Care, where they come to you. Have BP checked now by a doctor. This may be a "BASE POINT" THE NEW BASE POINT. TEHdoctor will tell you what it sould be
