This supplement is not a medication that is overseen by the FDA. This means there are no robust clinical, scientifically repeatable studies that definitively prove it works for any of its claims, not just dementia. One problem is that it couldn't be tested because it was illegal up until recently. For supplements there is no objective body that monitors the makers for content, consistency, purity, dosage, sterile mfg environment or efficacy. This means someone can literally be filling pills in an unsanitary way, with ungloved hands, breathing all over each pill, in their kitchen or garage -- and the purchaser would never know this. There is no one objective body gathering complaints or incidences of reactions or other events, like the FDA does. There is currently only anecdotal stories of how it has "worked" for some but not others. This is not science except for the "Placebo Affect" which means if someone believes a substance is going to provide a specific outcome, 20% of those who take it will report that it "worked" for them. If someone is administered CBD for any reason they must tell their doctor and pharmacist in advance so that any interaction with other medications can be mitigated. CBD comes from a plant but it is still is a chemical when you ingest it, and interacts as such. Some CBD products can still contain THC because there is no quality testing or standards...just lots and lots of money to be made.
My personal experience is that it doesn't help with anything. But that's me. Many anecdotal stories claim it is the cures-everything miracle of our times. There is as yet no proof of efficacy for anything. And there is nothing that does much for dementia other than to address symptoms.
My educated guess is no. It could possibly make it worse. Dementia needs to be treated by a medical professional not by any other means. It is not a disease to mess with.
