Hospice has been telling me Fred is close to death, but calling me on a cell phone 3-4 times a day and begging me to come get him. My son and I are going to hospice facility to sign papers and call an ambulance. The hospic nurse said his insurance wont pay for any of his treatmnt or the ambulance ride. I'm so pissed off! Hospice is a scam! The cancer drs gave him 6-9 months like 2 weeks ago.

I agree, home hospice may be better but the family will do most of the work. You will see a nurse and aide (for bathing) about 3x a week. The nurse will be available by phonev24/7.
I would wonder about the discrepancies. Why are you told he is close to death but then ur are called numerous times to come get him. Is it two different people telling you this. Very confusing.

Where I live most people only are admitted to a hospice facility when death is very near, days or weeks, although some with complex needs may be there longer. Are you wanting to care for him at home or did you plan to leave him at the hospital - the hospital may treat an acute problem but won't likely admit him. Your best bet may be to switch to home hospice, you can work this out with your current provider or find a different hospice agency.
As I understand it, one cannot be on hospice AND get life saving medical treatment. It is either/or.
So firing hospice.
I do not know if there is a waiting period, a day in between?
Can you call Medicare and ask for permission to get the ambulance paid?
Hope anyway it is done, that your husband gets the best care.
Whether it be palliative care, another hospice, or a miracle cure!
