My sister w/Stage COPD needs medical approved transportation from bad NH/Rehab to better facility closer to family 191 miles. Suggestions?

We need to know if The doctor would approve Medical Transportation out of the Area, would Medicare & Medicaid pay for it?

We do not want my sister back in facility Sugarland, Texas. They are very neglegant & do illegal processing. we already reported them to the state. Can anyone please help us? It's very neccessary for my sister's health & well being. There are very few facilities in Texas that have ventilator approved rooms for her COPD condition.

What sort of ventilator room is needed? Is she on a ventilator (breathing tube or tracheostomy) with a machine that breathes for her? Most COPD patients are mobile (wheelchair bound, can walk).
Do you mean ventilation system?

I don’t believe Medicare nor Medicaid will pay for a transfer to another facility. I believe it will be private pay for her family.

There are ambulance companies in your area - give them a google search and get a few estimates. The cost will depend on the patients condition and how much monitoring they require (medically) as well as the distance to be travelled.

No, Medicare and/or Medicaid will not pay for a family requested transfer from one LTC center to another. Medicare & Medicaid pay for services determined to be a “medical necessity”. A family request to move their loved one from one LTC to another is not considered a “medical necessity”.
