Like a "Nurses Lending Closet" The problem you are going to have is that you will have to obtain your own mattress. Places that will take a donation of a hospital bed will generally not take mattresses. You can ask the doctor to write a prescription for one. If it is necessary it should be picked up by Medicare or Medicaid. If the person is not on Medicare or Medicaid and has insurance often insurance will pick up the cost of DME (Durable Medical Equipment) If the person is eligible for Hospice Hospice will provide a hospital bed, often with a higher quality mattress than what might be "standard"
If the patient doesn’t qualify for hospice then have you tried looking on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace? Where to get a donated hospital bed varies widely depending on the resources in your local area.
