My mother is in late stages of dementia. She is babbling and screaming. Anyone have any experience with seroquel with dementia patients?

She has had many antidepressants. This is different. She is going mad. It is all day and all night. I am exhausted physically and mentally. I have a new prescription to pick up. An anti psychotic. It sounds like dangerous side effects but this can't go on. I am losing my cool. Anyone have any experience with seroquel with dementia patients?

Have you talked to her doctor. My Mom started to hum and it got worse as the days went on. She was disturbing other residents, She was given something for anxiety. Calmed her down. This was the beginning of her decline. Later she closed her eyes andcwouldn't open them. Fought the nurses to stay in bed. Hospice was called in and she passed a week later.

Since this is a recent and new behavior are you able to have her checked for a UTI? If not a UTI I agree with Margaret's suggestion.

I can’t help with the question, but this sounds appalling for both of you. I wouldn’t worry about the side effects, she couldn’t ever have wanted to prolong a life like this. Heaps of sympathy, Margaret
