My mom is almost 90 years old and lives on my property. In the last 6 months her sister and only friend has passed away and since then her health has really declined, she is getting her medications mixed up, her days and time of day and night. She has started to say strange stuff, today she asked me if I had been horse back riding, I guess I did have boots on with my work clothes. She has social security and Providence medicare insurance and I'm being told she doesn't qualify for anything. She has been assessed by home health after a fall, but doesn't qualify now. At this time she needs someone to come in and start helping with bathing, medication and meals 2-3 times a week or at least the days that I work. (I cook and freeze all her meals, all she has to do is heat them up, but in last 4 weeks she has lost her appetite and I can't find food she will eat) Is home care something I have to try to afford? She has been telling me since I was 11 years old that it would be my job to take care of her! I'm not a caregiver :-( however I do love my mom. New to this, hard to figure it all out.
