Full time live-in caregivers: how are you taking care of your own future?

How are you taking care of your own futures ($$) when the one you care for and live with (Mom) can't be left alone for a long period of time for her own safety, and you yourself have multiple health problems and are facing disability? My siblings live too far away to help, and there is no one else to help. She does have some retirement savings, which helps out, but we just had a major home repair done, which was one big ouch. I spend all day either paying bills, taking her to drs appointments, etc or doing shopping and cleaning. I don't know what to do about my own future, I am so absorbed in taking care of hers.

Medicaid nursing home, unless she has the money to pay for full time caregivers (well over a hundred grand a year generally), or an MC or AL.

Do not spend your own funds, or time you could be working to earn your own funds, on your parent.

Otherwise your kids will be asking the same thing about you in a few decades.

Can mom pay you or is she eligible for PCA / Homemaker hours that you can be paid for?
