What do I do when my 90 year old mother hangs up on me whenever I disagree with her, and won’t answer when I call back?

Midkid58 Apr 2021
My mother can't even CALL me. One reason, she cannot use her phone. Another is that she doesn't know my number (same one for 43 years, never bothered to learn it).

She's being petty and petulant. Just let her be.

Whatever you do: DON'T call her, you're just playing into her game.

Keep a sense of humor. Don't call her back and she'll come around. If she doesn't consider it a vacation and do something for yourself :)

If it’s easier and more comfortable for you, why not agree with her and stop giving
her a reason to hang up.

You are serving in the role that’s most important- remaining in contact.

Give yourself permission to fudge a little on your comments so that she doesn’t have any reason to disagree with you. If it’s easier on you, THAT’S THE REASON to handle it this way.

You let her be and get on with your life. Just because she wants to play games with you, doesn't mean that you have to play along.
You say in your profile that she does this often, and that she "worships the ground" your son walks on, so if you're truly concerned about her, you can just have your son call and check on her as I'm sure she won't hang up on him.
