My mother is 82 and has a lot of health/mental/depression anxiety. She has become violent. What do I do?

My 83 years old mother who has many physical , anxiety and depression. My mother pulled out a knife months ago and said she would hurt herself and my father. I didn’t hear about this to later on. I was shocked by how my father and mother said I I was making too much out of it. Later on my mother choked me and I ran into the bathroom with my phone and locked the door. I called the police. They both have normalized violence and I’m shocked. What should I do?? Call her dr??

Don’t keep any knives or scissors in the house. Dementia patients get violent. My mother does. I’m almost glad she can’t walk or she would’ve gone to kitchen drawers..grabbed a knife in middle of night…to stab me.
hugs 🤗

What did the police say? You did the right thing by reporting the incident. I don’t know what else can be done.

I am so sorry that this is occurring in your family. Continue to call 911 if it happens again.

If you are not her POA the physician cannot speak to you about this, but you CAN and should report it. If you are present during violence you should call emergency services and have her transported to hospital where they will assess her. If she truly IS out of control, then she will not be able to act normal when they show up. If she is play acting, you should leave; don't participate, don't return to the premises.
I am assuming there has been a physical and a check for UTI. It is interesting that NEITHER of your parents are impressed by this behavior? That is unusual. I feel you should not be living with these people; leave them to themselves. Violence is never OK.
