We have tried putting the charger in her room overnight; however, she gets up during the night and puts in her hearing aids. Consequently, they are not charged in the morning and she cannot communicate without the hearing aids. Next we tried putting the hearing aid charger at the nurses station and having Mom put them in the charger. This resulted in Mom not going to bed because she thinks the staff will steal the hearing aids. She is so much more confused because she isn’t sleeping well due to the hearing aids situation.
Anyone have a solution to this issue?

My understanding is that hearing aids are very expensive. Is getting a 2nd pair feasible?
I spent ten minutes yesterday afternoon tracking down a pair of hearing aids that I could hear squawking somewhere in the room - like a soul in torment - while client and her husband denied all knowledge of the noise or where the hideous racket was coming from. Eureka! - little black box, third shelf down on a side table in the darkened living room, and nestling inside were two brand spanking new in-ear aids. I looked at Mrs Client over my glasses, and she said
"I can't put them in."
"Would you like me to help you put them in?"
"Yes please."
"Can you hear better now?"
"Oh yes much better thank you."
My daily notes sheet read: "please add prompt/support use of hearing aids to a.m. support plan."
If you have a secret second pair the staff can take control of the charging and mother will be none the wiser. Just as well, too, if you ask me.
One pair can be worn at night (on flat/no charge) and the other with staff to exchange during bathing next morning.
It seems that she just needs the security of knowing she is wearing them.
