If Mom is a Medicaid recipient then its immediate. Meaning the first month Medicaid starts paying for her care the POA or person in charge of her account should be sending the NH a check for her SS and any pension she receives. I allowed the NH to become payee for both SS and pension my Mom received. The NH can't "take it" until your Mom's representative has either allowed them to become payee or set up an automatic with drawl.
I suggest you call the NHs billing offset and see if there is a balance on Moms acct.
