88yr old insomnia. Got her Cpap thinking that was why she slept so much during the day but things haven’t changed even w/Cpap. Advice?

No REM sleep. I just can’t figure it out!

Is she using the CPAP through the night? Is the mask getting a good seal? I'm just getting my mom on one and these 2 issues are so far keeping her from having any benefit in her level of tiredness.

Could she be depressed? Bored? Dementia and just can't think of anything else to do?

We need a little more information... does your LO have a diagnosis of dementia or other health issue? Sometimes people with dementia have screwed up sleep patterns. You should consult with her physician first before going with advice from this forum.

We had this same issue with my 99-yr old aunt with mod/adv dementia. Her caregiver (my cousin) was giving her Tylenol PM to get her to sleep and not only did it not work very well, it made her incredibly constipated.

We began introducing activities that would burn her physical and mental energy during the day: a mechanical pedaling machine (15 min per day), folding piles of kitchen towels, coloring, going for a short walk daily. She is off the Tylenol PM and sleeps through the night 99% of the time now.
