Is anyone else having difficulty locating senior housing for aging aunts and other relatives and family debacles?

TChamp Dec 2021
Yes, it's difficult to find lodging for elders. I'm 89 and in a waiting list for an apartment for independent seniors. They tell me that it might take a whole year if I'm lucky. For AL and NH's is probably worse. Incidentally, I never thought how expensive is to die in the U.S.

Medical science created this issue by allowing seniors to survive until 95 or so routinely. Surely the aunts knew this was coming.

Aunts, cousins, whatever, it's not really your problem. Contact their children and have them deal with it.

I agree with you. Medical science has created two new big problems. An overpopulation of very old but sick people and an overpopulation of children with mental and physical disabilities.

"Debackles" as in a family fiasco or excessive drama?

The issues I've found while searching for senior housing was the cost, lack of available senior housing in the area - and waiting lists. Some of the waiting lists are for years - or closed altogether, where we live.

Both regarding "Debackles" the state of CT has no reasonable, cost-conscious, or senior-friendly housing, and on top of that many of the seniors are veterans to boot. Not the case with the aunts I've called many agencies and have been told to get on a waiting list. Considering that everyone has various circumstances for needing senior housing this answer is not acceptable by any means or standards. Have we become such a Capitalistic that we didn't think that this sort of issue wouldn't become an issue??
