How do I find a good assisted living in Montclair, NJ?
Can anyone recommend an excellent assisted living facility near Montclair, NJ. I would like to find one that has a progressive plan from independent to assisted to nursing home. Thank you.
All I can say is this will be expensive. My sister went to Montclair State so I know the area is rich.
You may want to see an elder lawyer to have your assets split. Medicaid allows for this. His split will go towards his care, when spent down, you then apply for Medicaid for him. You becoming the Community Spouse staying in the home.
I live in S Jersey. The AL my Mom was in excepted Medicaid. Check this out with the lawyer to confirm, but after at least 2 years of private pay Medicaid may pay for continued care at that AL. It depends on the % of residents allowed on Medicaid. If the facility has reached their quota, they may not allow the resident to stay.
What you are looking for is called a CCRC--Continuing Care Retirement Community.
You might consider a Senior Care advisor, either the ones affiliated with this site, or a more local one, to assist you in your search. They are paid by the facility, not by you.
