I wouldn't because the answer will be No. Really, it depends on how far into the Dementia he is. My Mom was in the last stages. I was POA and she had been living with me for about 20 months. I never took her back to her house. I placed her in an AL and the day we moved her is when I told her she was moving to an apt and was going to meet new friends. We got there, visited a little to get her settled in and then left to let the staff take over. I was 5 min up the road so I did visit ea day, no more than 1/2 hour. She needed to rely on staff. I was lucky that she acclimated well.
He's 96 and still living on his own?? Wow. My MIL made it to 95 and then a fall and then a broken ankle landed her in hospital, rehab, and now a nursing home.
How bad is his dementia? Does he have home health care? What type of place are you planning on moving him to?
