Dealing with Parkinson’s and dementia. Any advice?
I am the caregiver to my husband of 55 years. He has Parkinson’s and seems to be declining. I know I will have some hard decisions in the future. Need all the information and the help I can get.
One of the first places, OK, second since you started here... Parkinson's Disease Foundation 1-800-473-4636 Provides education, research and advocacy.
National Parkinson's Foundation 1-800-327-4545 1-800-473-4636 (Help line) Education, information, referral and outreach.
American Parkinson's Disease Association 1-800-223-2732 (National) Information, referral, education.
You can also check with the Alzheimer's Association 1-800-272-3900 They may have information and or be aware of Parkinson's Support / Information near you.
If your husband is a Veteran contact your local Veterans Assistance Commission and see what services he may qualify for. It might be a little help or a LOT. Your local Area Agency on Aging may also have information.
You could even check with a nearby Assisted Living / Memory Care facility and ask if they have support groups that are open to the public.
Up at the top of the page in the blue/green banner you should see CARE TOPICS. If you click/tap that link you will find many articles and posts on Parkinson's disease, Dementia and a lot of other topics you might find helpful.
