I have been working for a couple since 1990, but I am thinking about reporting their greedy daughters to APS. Advice?

I have been working for a couple since 1990. The husband passed in 2008. The spouse is still living, but she does have dementia. I have always taken care of the house and cook. Now I do all of this and more, and I love my employer. I did like my job, but now I hate it there. Reason why, is the greedy daughters. I really am thinking about reporting them to APS.

It is time to sit down with the daughters and discuss the changes and how hard it has become for you.

They have become comfortable knowing you have been there since 1990 and they may not even realize the changes in their own Mother. In their eyes they are doing the best for their Mother because they know you are there to care for her.

If they are doing something abusive to their Mother then definitely report them if you feel you need to.

I think a discussion with the family is needed and you may need some time off to think about what you may need for yourself. You must be so burnt out

Your employer's dementia is going to progressively worsen, I'm guessing that if it hasn't already your role will morph from housekeeper to housekeeper + nurse + everything else that needs doing. I think that it is time to make plans for the next phase of your life, as much as you are devoted to this woman she isn't your family and it isn't in your power to direct her care. If her daughters are truly abusive then of course go ahead and report them, but the consequences of that may be you being cut off from your employer. If the problem is that she needs a higher level of care than you can give then you will need to step back sooner rather than later, no new solution will be looked for as long as YOU are seen as the solution.

What are the daughters doing that you are concerned about?

The question is whether they're doing anything that is bad for your employer, or only disgusting you by their attitude.

Quit. Seriously. You have gotten way too close to them.
