My sister has cancer and they gave now said 3-6 months although who knows. I am being hired as her caregiver . I am going to be staying at her home but I said I can’t do 24/7. Several days yes and then several off . I don’t know what to charge or how to all handle this . At the moment I am on disability from my job as a care aide due to stomach issues but the stomach issues wouldn’t be an issue at my sister's as I can go to the bathroom whenever needed and at this point my sister is still able to do most for herself but shouldn’t be alone. I’m just feeling a little unsure although I did say a while ago that I would do this for her and she wants me to be her caregiver. What is everyone’s thoughts ?

You could also work directly for your sister under a personal care agreement for whatever rate you agree is fair, but you’ll need to help her arrange for payroll tax withholding, worker’s comp, etc. Then you’d need to address how to temporarily stop any disability payments or other benefits.
I assume you will keep your current living arrangements for your days off.
When you say you're "being hired" - who is hiring and more to the point who will be paying?
Has anyone done a needs assessment? Is there a care plan?
Where do you normally live? If you're thinking in terms of several days on, several days off - what happens on the days off?
As you're in receipt of disability payments, you are going to need to be very careful to disclose any paid work and explain the circumstances or you could find yourself being featured in a news article about benefits cheats.
Where is your sister at the moment? Do you and she have time to plan this properly before she comes home?
