Most places will not take used mattresses. Most hospital beds are provided through insurance. And if a patient is on Hospice the bed will be provided. Often the best way to get rid of a bed is to offer it on line, Marketplace or other site. Or if there is no luck that way place the bed on the curb and "metal scrappers" will pick it up on garbage day.
Items like this if needed can be ordered by his doctor it would then be covered through insurance. If your husband is in Assisted Living why are you going to bring him home? If he is in Rehab then the equipment can be ordered. If he is on Hospice the equipment will be ordered and delivered.

All these hospital beds should be provided as rentals IMO.
