My mom passed in May, a few months before , she said all she does is sleep…

Maybe as Lealonnie suggested , your mom maybe making that turn we all eventually take…

Since you ask for tips in your profile, I suggest you read this 33 page booklet (a free download) which has THE best information ever about managing dementia and what to expect with an elder who's been diagnosed with it.

Understanding the Dementia Experience, by Jennifer Ghent-Fuller

Vascular dementia normally has about a 5 year lifespan to it; since your mom was diagnosed 7+ years ago, perhaps she is approaching the end of her life journey now. Speak to her doctor for a hospice evaluation and that may make your life a bit easier (based on what you say in your profile as well). Having hospice help you on a regular basis with mom would not be a bad thing; plus they provide you with free incontinence supplies, a hospital bed for her, free medications, and all sorts of other supplies and services paid for by Medicare.

Wishing you the best of luck with a tough situation.

Thank you so much. I will read the book you suggest. This is so hard to watch my mom go thru. I appreciate all the tips and help from all these caring souls!

Any sudden change should be checked out or at least informed to her doctor. I hope you have help in your home in caring for her needs from at least a good hospice agency. If not please ask for this now.
