Does a LTC policy (not Medicaid) pay for rent in assisted living?

My Mom has a policy that says it will pay $100 day ($3,000/month) for 3 years.

Does this include the rent at the assisted living facility or just the services, such as help with bathing, dressing, grooming.

Read the policy well. Each is different.
I read of one that indicated the care was for "in home care" did not include AL. Although I would have to argue that if that is where the person was living prior to the policy being activated that that would be their home.

Each LTC policy reads differently, but normally, Assisted Living rent is included in what they pay for IF mom needs the assistance with ADLs (activities of daily life) per her doctor. Many ALs include a few caregiving services in with the rent each month, too.

You'd need to call your mom's insurance company to find out what's covered. Fingers crossed that AL is covered for her, b/c that's a good chunk of money to have paid FOR her each month!

GOOD LUCK!
