The doctor needs to change orders. It could be changed to "PRN" or As Needed. I would not change the dosage / frequency of a medication "to please the family" a change in dose or frequency should be for the benefit of the patient.
Senna is an over counter med. She may have some leeway with that. But even for tylenol the nurse had to have a Drs order and how many times she was allowed it.
