Is Seroquel helpful in reducing aggression, agitation or anger? The doctor did not prescribe antipsychotic medication. Any ideas why?

My mom's doctor put her on it, and it seemed to help. She was already wheelchair-bound and virtually blind, so the fall and vision problems weren't an issue for her. I don't think they kept her on it for very long, though.

Sorry, as a follow up question. Does seroquel cause falls in small doses? I am concerned if it causes falls then we do not want to buy it

One of the reasons Seroquel may not be prescribed is if an elderly person has mobility and/or vision problems. It may cause falls and exacerbate vision problems. It also can be used to treat visual hallucinations.

Every patient is as individual as his or her own thumbprint. It is difficult for Doctors to get the correct drugs and drug cocktails on board and assess whether they work, and once the magic formula is found it seldom lasts forever. Wishing you good luck and hoping if you are medical POA you are able to help the MDs decide what is working and what is not. This is no easy task for any involved.

What drug class is Seroquel?
Seroquel belongs to a class of drugs called Antipsychotics, 2nd Generation; Antimanic Agents. Quetiapine has demonstrated efficacy in aggression, impulsivity, and irritability and has proved to be an effective medication in patients exhibiting these behaviors.

Seroquel IS an anti-psychotic medication, according to Google.

You are best off speaking to your loved one's doctor about any medication questions you have. Or the pharmacist who is better equipped to explain these matters to you.

Best of luck!
