Background check. Any advice?

You need to ask the agency.

I worked in an office setting with vulnerable people. My background check was done at the federal level here in Canada. There are different levels of police background checks.

In my current position, a financial fiduciary, my background check was even more in depth, criminal, financial, associations (people I know or am related to, etc).

My former husband and my brother each had a high federal security clearance that, went back to their elementary schooling and took a deep dive into my own background.

Personally, I would lock up all the valuables, financial records, checks, etc. even though they have background checks.

Here's the thing, transgressions only show up when they have been prosecuted. So they could be thieves and drug addicts that have never been found guilty or pled to a charge.

I did a background check on myself and it stated that I have known criminal affiliations, this was referencing a neighbors husband that was dead before we bought our house, of, and she was 89 when we moved in.

So, I would recommend using your local to parents law enforcement resources, regardless of what an agency claims they do, install cameras, if parents are good with it and lock up anything that would matter if it was stolen.

I get my local police department to do a nationwide criminal background check for in-house help. I also have a credit check run and require drug testing. I make potential employees aware that I am going to require these checks and some drop off then. I have them sign the releases to get the checks done and I pay for the drug testing. I require three personal references with addresses and telephone numbers.

Each agency decides upon its own background checks and what is included, so this is question best addressed to them.
