Aging individuals and hurricane Ian. Anyone else in the storm's path?

Riverdale: Many family and friends are down in Florida and South Carolina, some elderly and some not. We keep in touch through social media, Messenger and text. All are A-Okay. As you lost power, how are you able to access the internet? Perhaps you have a generator? Here in the mid Atlantic region, we have had rain from Saturday through today, which is Wednesday.

My 100 and 103-yr old Aunts live in south Vero on the east coast. They lost power for a day, had lots of rain but no flooding.

We have retired friends in Englewood. Her husband has PD and didn't want to evacuate. I heard from other of their friends that it was terrifying for them to go through the storm with no power, and knowing no 911 to help. I haven't heard many details since except a cryptic short text yesterday which said they are overwhelmed but "will get there" (meaning survive through it, I hope).

I had completed my 2-month caregiving stint for my 2 elderly Aunts in Vero and flew home on Sept 22nd, so got out of there in the knick of time. That following Monday morning before the storm hit, my 103-yr old Aunt had a health incident, so she spent it in the hospital, but had a good experience. When it rains, it pours... sorry for the pun.

Just seeing this now. We are in the Orlando area.

My sister and her husband live in Weaverville, NC, about 310 miles from Myrtle Beach. Thank goodness she is far away from the area. Only high winds and some rain happened in their area.

Riverdale,I live in Naples. Surprisingly we didn't lose power at all. Quite a few power surges though. The area we're in had no flooding with very little damage. Plenty of broken tree branches. Boy was it windy!!

I'm in NC and we had lots of rain Thursday and Friday. The stronger wind gusts(46 miles per hour) started early in the evening Friday, and went until about midnight. One of my neighbors had a tree fall on their house doing quite a bit of damage, but thankfully we never lost power though it flickered on and off several times.
This morning we are still having a slight misty rain, but thankfully no winds.
My oldest grandson lives in Daytona Beach, and he said that they had a couple inches of rain in their house which has since been cleaned out, but they are still without power. He also told me this morning that he can't get to his car as there is a downed power line on top of it.
Praying everyone is safe.

Anyone in Bradenton? I have friends there.

Cxmoody, I am sure your mom's support staff appreciated the snacks and appreciation from you.

We just went through this, here in Florida. The staff at my mother’s MC stayed for 72 hours straight.

Before the storm, I brought in LOTS of treats for them, and told them again, how much I appreciate them. My mother is not an easy patient. These ladies are angels.

The facility had some water come in through the A/C vents, but that’s it. PHEW.

It is a stressful situation for all of us!
