I'm being proactive about resources for my godmother who is being neglected in a nursing home. I applied for guardianship. Any advice?

Home. Her wishes is to go home with proper medical care. What can I do to win the case?

What is proper medical care? Who is available to provide it?

Who is fighting the case, is the only question here. If you are the goddaughter, with a long history and can prove that with her family and her friends, and this is what she wants and you want, it won't be a problem. Otherwise, it will be. I am assuming she is not well enough to "request" your guardianship via an attorney?
You need also to watch what you wish for. Are you truly qualified to be guardian? Do you understand what is LEGALLY required of you by the courts, the accounting for every penny in and out of her accounts, the files and etc. This is an onerous task. I was POA and Trustee of Trust for my brother. I had no idea what I was stepping into.
If you are a goddaughter of a woman who has family who has already served as POA and guardian or Trustee or Conservator, and placed her in care?? Then it is extremely unlikely you would win "over them". You would need very good documented proof that their handling of things for their relative is not good enough.

Does she have significant resources? Home care, depending on the area is at least 12K a month.

I see the nursing home has requested guardianship. Nursing homes will do that when there is not a family member willing to take it on. Maybe she has insufficient resources so nursing home will request guardianship in order to submit a Medicaid application so they can get paid.

Medicaid will not pay for home care.

verystressedout, welcome to the forum. Curious why your God-mother is in a nursing home. Your profile says depression, but I was wondering if she has any type of memory loss.

If yes to memory loss, your God-mother saying "home" means her childhood home. Do any of the relatives still own the house?

Have a good attorney and a good plan for her care.
