My mom is currently on hospice at home. She is (fairly) mobile, but needs overnight care and is really fighting me on it. Any advice? Thx

I had/have better results when I told my parents another person helping with xyz was for ME. ( For my sanity!) Which honestly is the truth too!

Sometimes for genuine health & safety reasons you have to go ahead and bulldog decisive help in no matter the protesting. This can really suck when the protesting person in need has gotten their way all their life from being overbearing until people give up. I’ve had to outstubborn my mom which NOBODY could do, but telling her the help is for me did mitigate some drama. And guess what - she gets better care!

Good luck to you!

Introduce the caregiver as your good friend who needs a place to stay the nights.

My mom likes to fight me about everything too but I just did what needed to be done and tried to ignore her complaining. I would tell her that the caregivers were there for ME, so I could leave the house and do what I needed to do without having to worry about her. If the overnight care is so YOU can sleep, tell her that. Don't engage in arguing about it.

You're just going to have to step up and be the parent in this situation, as you have to bottom line do what's best for your mom.
She will get used to it eventually, so just tell her that because you love her so much that you are bringing in some overnight help, so you both can sleep better.
Best wishes.

Welcome, Jennifer!

Can you say a bit more about how mom is "fighting" this?

Cannot you not say "we are having Amy stay overnight for our peace of mind. She will just be sitting here in the parlor".?
