My family moved in with parents back in 2009 when the economy crashed. We had been trying to keep our family construction business going and had to close the doors in 2010. With going back to work full-time retail job outside of the house, my dad would help me get the kids back and forth to school. We discovered multi-generational living. It's amazing! Now that mom and dad are getting older (76 & 78), mom just recently diagnosed with early onset dementia, I am choosing to stay at home and help care for her. She has had several stays in the hospital the last six months due to infections. I was just wondering if it's possible to get paid to help care for her. I help manage meds, on stand-by during showers, help keep things organized, etc.

Welcome to the forum. Usually the only way for a family member to be paid is if the patient has funds to pay the caregiver. If the patient was in wartime military there can be benefits for aid and attendance through the VA. If the patient is eligible for Medicaid, an aide may be provided for several hours a day or week.
Contact the local Area Agency on Aging to discuss your moms situation and see if there are other services either of you may be eligible for.
