Is there a Medicare program to give home care givers relief?

If the patient is a veteran, check with the VA.

Check with your counsel on ageing to see if there are funds for respite. In my county, family can receive up to 1.5 k per year to hire caregivers for a few hours or to cover a couple of weeks of adult day care.

No, not really. There is a member who was able to get ""Intermittent" care for her Mom and Aunt thru Medicare but I don't know how that works.

If you are low income Medicaid maybe able to give you some hours with an aide. Otherwise, its private pay.
