What would cause spotting years after a hysterectomy?

Over 1 yr ago I had 1 nickle sized blood clot and nothing else. Then, a month ago, I had bright pink/red when I wiped and now again today same pink/red when I wipe. What would be the reason?

Incase your wondering no sex lately.

My mom saw a urogynecologist because of the UTI's that she kept gettimg. She was checked to see how completely her bladder was emptying.

So, yes it is a women's doc that specializes in urology and gynecology.

I asked this question to my urogynocologist because this question pops up on a yearly basis. The answer... if there is a uterus, then you would need to see a gyn. Here's the good news: in older women the vaginally tissues are thin. They can become chafed with increases in the usual activity. If you get no response from your PCP, then request a consult with a gyn or uro gynecologist. There is a prescription vaginal cream called Estrodiol that builds up the tissues and adds lubrication to abate those symptoms along with other uses

Alva has a good 'for now' solution to find the source of the bleeding.
But you NEED to see a Dr., sooner rather than later.

Don't assume it's nothing and don't assume it's something--just go and get checked out.

A question we often get and one to which the only answer is an appointment with your doctor. The first thing the MD will suggest to you is that if this happens when you urinate and there is no spotting otherwise between trips to the bathroom that this may be coming from the bladder. The way to differentiate that is to use a tampon and see if it collects any bloody matter. That will give the doc some answers when you come in the door. Good luck.

I had to have a bladder scan when I had blood in my urine. Turned out to be negative.
