My husband has Frontotemporal dementia and has been sleeping a lot more during the day even if he sleeps all night. Is this common?
He doesn’t want to do anything active, gets up for a few hours sleeps for a few, does that all day. Gets very tired if he does anything active. Spends more time sleeping then awake.
Often times sleeping a lot can indicate that death is not far off. It may be time to have hospice do an assessment on your husband to see if he qualifies. My late husband who had vascular dementia, slept a lot(16-20 hrs. a day)during the last 6 months or so of his life. That's how I knew that his time here on earth was winding down. Best wishes to you both.
How old is he? Has he been checked for other medical problems, such as vitamin deficiency, diabetes, thyroid, heart problems, etc.? Or, it could be a sign of depression. I would contact his primary doctor.
