Groaning while urinating and BMs. Does anyone know what this is about?
Hello all. My husband (who has advanced dementia) now groans whenever he urinates and defecates. This is new to me. His urine is clear and free of odor that is typically associated with UTI. Does anyone know what this is about?
Is he showing any other signs of pain or discomfort? Is he verbal? If so have you asked him why he is making noise? If he waits until his bladder is full urinating may feel such relief that he is expressing that it "feels good" to empty his bladder. The same when he has a BM. Is he taking a stool softener? If not you might want to try that if the fecal matter seems hard or large that it may be painful. There are many products that are gentle, If he does not like taking pills there is an herbal tea called "Smooth Move" that is Senna based and Senna is the main active ingredient in many softeners.
