I need the name of a reliable elder law office in Lee County for myself for financial and medical wills, POA, medical care surrogate.

I am now almost close to completing POA, Living Will, Financial Will (also HIPPA, which relates to release of medical information), but contrary to what I expected from the publicity, now the firm has nobody for me to act as my medical care surrogate. Instead I was given the number of one person listed as "financial agent" who has studied business administration and worked in assisted living residences. There is only a phone, no internet address. The attorney had told me that he would tell this indiviual about me. It seemed he had not, and this individual did not express encouraging remarks. I now want to stop my relationship with that attorney, and forget about what I had paid. I am not going to tangle with this law firm and look around.

If you are asking for a personal recommendation, you need to provide the state you live in as many states may have a Lee County.

Otherwise, use the that MACinCT provided, it is an excellent resource.

As far as a Medical Care Surrogate, you may want to consider using a social worker who is a Geriatric Care Manager rather than a financial person.

Go online. Choose a reputable elder law attorney in your area. Ask for an appointment. Let this person draw up all documents after visiting with you to find out who you want for what. Have your list of people that you want to act as your health care directive party if you are unable to make health care decisions, who you want to inherit your assets and what those assets are, who you want as DPOA if you are unable to handle your own finances, and what you want them to have the right to do in your name.

There is no substitute for sitting with a GOOD attorney in the office and working all this out. IMHO.
