Putting your spouse in long term care.

ravensdottir Jun 2023
It was a hard decision for my mom after 6 years of carrying the brunt of caregiving. But their doctor basically told her she was damaging her own health and she could see she couldn't continue, especially when he started having trouble transferring; and with dialysis 3 days a week, it just wasn't sustainable. But she made sure she was there pretty much every day and when someone once asked him where his wife was, he said 'Oh, she's around here somewheres.'
So he had confidence that she wasn't ever very far away. And I remember an article came out around the same time which noted that sometimes, the best way to care for a loved one is to entrust them into the care of others.
You can still be there for him.
