Medicare will pay for a certain type of scooter if a doctor writes an order for it. The wise thing would be is to find a durable equipment store that sells them. Then the owner can help with the Medicare form.
When I worked for our local VisitingvNurses, we found out our clients had no problem getting a scooter thru Medicare but they had a problem paying for a new battery. They can be expensive. Some of our clients were on HUD and living off of SS. No money forva battery.
An occupational therapist will be able advise you and to fit you with a scooter that is appropriate for your needs, if you have your eye on a certain model you can ask about it. When you purchase through a local company you can probably get it pre assembled. If your doctor agrees that a mobility scooter is necessary you may be able to use benefits for part of the cost.

My Mom’s travelscoot was easily assembled by folding the pieces out and sliding in the seat and battery, but it was designed for travel so that’s its niche.

If it really intimidates you and you want to hire someone to do it for you, your local bike shop may have someone who has the skills and experience reading obscure instructions.
