I'm confused about a Parkinson's Disease speech issue.

My bff has had pkd 20yrs now. Has a bps, rytary seleguline on board (other meds for hbp infection depression) low dose pain med. he says he’s exhausted tired and sleeps a lot. We know the pkd meds cause daytime sleepiness (I’ve seen it in him) but this is excessive sleepiness fatigue etc. along w "feeling like crap" and something like upset stomach maybe excess gerd. He had surgery 5y ago for repairing the sphincter to help food processing. Anyway, the stomach and sickly feeling is odd. He takes Lexapro (ssri) 10mg/d for the depression. Along w others saying they felt horrible on it I know it has side effects that point to the gastric issues. Anyone else take ssri w or w/o Parkinson & what can u tell me about the experience? I’m his healthcare proxy & thought we should try prescribing it. as for speech, when we talk to him, I may make a statement where a response of "ok" or "yes" would be common, but he will continue talking on topic or change the subject. Also when the pkd is on he will repeat the convo or his statements 2 or 3 times. I’m really confused. Let me know. TY.

My mother had Parkinson’s disease. I wish that I could help you. My mom took her Parkinson’s meds along with Ativan and Seroquel.

Stick around because others on the forum may be able to help you.

Wishing you peace during this difficult time.
