Follow up: Walking before leaving hospital.

I did speak to the nurse who said he has asked the doctor. We have hospita lists here about getting a physical therapy evaluation before my husband leaves. He hasnt heard back yet.

I do like the term “unsafe discharge”  a lot and will not hesitate to mention it if some kind of further evaluation is not done.

I  should have thought of it but am not feeling that well myself. I fell on Christmas and got up, but he could not when he fell Wed.

He is 76. I am 83. We both were fully ambulatory before he fell. He is not interested in rehab or home health.

No problems transferring bed to chair and back, but big deal! He's not getting wheelchair pushed in house or car to house.

Not going to stepdown because there are no beds available and there is a waitlist.

A nurse estimated the clot was about 10-12 inches and was between his lungs. Nurses are “thats big” to the picture, Doc is nonchalant like, “Well they got it all. Covid has clots all over the body.”

So, I will definitely bring up the “unsafe discharge” and see what happens.
