My 88 year old mom lives with me and my husband. My husband and me would like to go on vacation. What are my options for care?

She uses a walker or cane to walk around. Showers herself. She takes medicine at 8am and 5 pm.

Find a nice Assisted Living. Tell Mom she will vacation there while ur away. They usually have furnished rooms. It will be like staying in a hotel. She will have help when needed. Dine with other residents and join in activities. If she is mobile enough maybe go on an outing.

I feel that there are a lot of options for you:
You could reach out on NextDoor (the App) to See if some neighbors can help.
You reach out to your local senior center for help.
Senior care agencies for temprary assestance.
To name a few.

Try Visiting Angels, or if she is a member of a church maybe the church has a group that does member assistance. Check with a local nursing home may have a respite option for you.

Who lives in your area who is supportive now? Is there any other family?
Is mother safe on her own so long as she has someone to call in an emergency, and IS THERE someone?
Have you checked out respite care at facilities in your area?
Have you considered care.com for hiring help during vacation time?
What things have you tried checking out so far in your area?

I would also consider calling your local Council on Aging group to check with what is available to you in your area. I wish you the best of luck and hope you'll update us as to what you've found and how it worked out. We are here to teach and help one another and that's how it's done best.
