Is spending profit from my mother's house considered Medicaid spend down? She moved in with me and I've been using the funds for her daytime home care/sitter fees.
I did what you are doing. She had her own account with me on the account to help with bills. I kept every single receipt. Even nail polish, etc. I did have a couple of large bills like melanoma surgery. Medicaid asked for an explanation and I totaled up the receipts by category. That was enough for them to approve. I would save all the receipts. They were a life saver for me.
Thank you so kindly for responding. We placed the profits from the sale of her home into her account, my name is on the account and my sister so we could assist her in paying her bills

Depending what state you live in, there could be a 5 year lookback period.
Comingling funds is a very bad idea.
Make sure you have receipts for everything you spend and that you are not using the money for your needs.
