House temperature.

Hello all,
my Wife is 57 post menopausal with FTD. I don't know if its the FTD, the meds or a female thing but in the last few Months she has complained of being hot, first in the vehicle and now in the house. We have always kept the house at 68 degrees and she keeps turning it down to 66 degrees and freezing me out!
Anyone else dealing with this?

A two degree difference in temperature seems like something you could easily cope with by putting on a jumper. ???

You can still have hot flashes after menopause. I myself, have always felt the cold. I had warm flashes. But I agree that her Thyroid could have something to do with it.

It’s time for your wife to see her PCP for diagnosis.

Is she on any medications that might cause her to feel hot?
Has her thyroid been checked?

If everything checks out adjust the way she dresses.
Light weight clothes that you would typically wear in the summer.
And for you start layering a bit.
Think of the energy savings

I never thought to have a thyroid check for this--but if it were up to me we couldn't even have the heat on except in January, maybe. I sleep with the window open 365 a year. I also load the bed with down comforters and give my DH a hot water bottle. He's freezing when it's 68 degrees.

I doubt it's got anything to do with the FTD, I just know too many women who are way too hot--and not in the good way!

You could consider a thyroid check. Women carry more fat layer usually, and they keep warmer, which was of great benefit to the females in the Donner Party as they cross the Sierras and got stuck in the snows.

I myself just roast in the 68 degree house, while my Jack-sprat-eats-no-fat partner freezes. If the heat is on in the car, that hot air coming at me, I literally want to vomit. So lots of time this is just the way of it with folks. However, anything that is a CHANGE should have consideration. Cehck when last thyroid tests were run.
