Parkinson’s question.

My 85 yo mother will find something to repair so minute in her house & will remain fixated on it until it’s addressed. Is that fixation part of Lewey Body Dementia?

I don't think it's Parkinson's related, but it definitely is dementia related.
My late husband who had vascular dementia, would stay fixated on small things and not let them go until I would either fix or address whatever the issue was.
It often did get on my very last nerve, and pushed my patience to its limit.
I hope you do better with the fixation thing than I did.

Funky,

Don’t sell yourself short. You did your very best with your husband and are an inspiration for many people on this forum.

I have enjoyed reading your posts about your experiences in caregiving and feel that you have lots of wisdom to share.

My stepFIL had Parkinsons and LBD, but did not behave in the way you describe. On this forum I have read several other posts by participants whose LOs did have extreme OCD. You may have to talk to her doctor about meds for this.

Not necessarily Lewy's, but dementia in general is often full of obsessive compulsive stuff and fixations.

Hi,

I cared for my mom who had Parkinson’s disease. My mom did take meds for her Parkinson’s symptoms and her dementia symptoms.

I cannot answer your question though, because Parkinson’s disease affects everyone differently.

I would advise you to contact your mother’s neurologist and ask him your questions.

Tell him your concerns and hopefully he will be able to help you know what to expect.

I wish you and your mom well.
