Where can I find incontinence supplies for a severely obese person?

My sister is severely overweight and has trouble with bladder, etc. She has lymphedema so the doctors want her on fluid pills and of course that makes her have to go more. She wont ask the doctor for any help finding supplies. She won’t let me go to the doctor with her. She’s moving into her own apartment this week and I will be the one grocery shopping, laundry etc. I’m wondering about finding supplies that don’t cost an arm and a leg? Also hygiene items.

Amazon, measure this out and see how it would fit https://www.amazon.com/SOFYFINE-Disposable-Absorbent-Incontinence-Postpartum/dp/B0CQC64WGV/ref=sr_1_16?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.EoldAPpxLYOm9GKkPKm-sLIztwxCpUDyiH1gAPXbYj4VeUN4UjNzHZnZxvzjESlCwATXtcRg61Yv7y56TV5mbHPwqWpWYGI6pKm1Z9mdExTk018R0LwyG4IaAAeLHKbG3EqorcLT1VrvO5JkRsAu3WtVFrjb2SZqpgs1AJYT-IuEUunaFKHPPraxPSnPTqkX7VEs6JVrVANqV3SzQA31nrooYHHv-fdTk43aN2FOie7WVMzhlAynRxYmjze0WV6Ramm7tCuO4uiBIftDtyy4MHOFlg4_oVBCT4WvIDZqyig.v0xOi6wCAuc-DMht20voHFvHQfa1rz7jwaXhlNugInU&dib_tag=se&keywords=super%2Bsize%2Badult%2Bincontinence%2Bpads&qid=1714415787&sr=8-16&th=1

Of course they won’t be here until like 2-3 weeks but I happened to see these on Temu NS I think SHEIN also has them

Oh, I forgot to mention, sheet protectors are good to for furniture they sit on, not just for beds. They are much more comfortable than a tarp and are machine washable. I use protectors for my dogs' beds and they work great, so you could always get one used to protect an XXL dog beds for portions of a couch or a large chair.

I found XXL supplies on Amazon for my soon to be ex-husband. I believe they can come in as large as 4X in some supplies. I would say if you have trouble finding the pads in large sizes then ordering the more affordable dog pee pads in XXL can help. You can buy bulk items of wipes and the like that are also XXL for a fair price on Amazon. If you have a costco you might be able to buy in bulk in the baby aisle things like baby wipes or clorox wipes.

Good advice already listed, but if your sister tends to sit in one chair, a dog's potty pad can come in handy to sit on to protect the chair from any leaks or accidents. They're not that expensive if she buys in bulk, and they come in various sizes.

I've also used them for a quick and easy pickup of a large "water" accident by putting the absorbent side on the liquid to soak it up, then toss.

Why can sister not take care of herself? Is she too obese to function? Not trying to be mean, just curious.

I see a lot of posts from sons and daughters here about Mom or Dad still living ‘independently’… and then go on to explain that they do all the shopping, laundry, cleaning, come by three times a day, pay their bills. Meaning their parent thinks they’re doing just fine and live independently. It’s really an illusion. If someone besides them has do all the basics, that’s not living independently.

If sister insists she can live alone, let her. She’ll be fine if she can truly do for herself, even though she may not want to.

I feel the same way about enabling sister. She is not able to live by herself. One thing that can be done is to show sister how to order everything on line and lat the chips fall to get her into LTC

Almost all incontinence supplies now have very large sizes, a result of Americans being very large size. You can google online for "large size incontinence supplies". Will be hit and miss until you find the right product (so to speak).

I recommend avoiding enable an unsafe discharge to a home where someone suffering incontinence is not able to are for herself. This will become something that enables, and there will be little to no thanks for you becoming overwhelmed in no time with care.
Do tell Sis that you will help while you can to the extent you can, but that at some point you both will have to recognize you may not be able to take on this level of care.

Sure do wish you good luck.

Target, for one. Cheap, no way.

Amazon, not inexpensive either. No plus size items are.

If your sister "won't" do this, that and the other, let her know what YOU won't be doing for HER. Sounds like it's time for sister to grow up a bit and start taking responsibility for herself or wind up in even WORSE shape than she's already in. We can't care more about our loved ones than they care about themselves.

Good luck to you.
