I desperately need help finding live in help for myself. Where should I search?

Call your county Dept of Disabilities to see what help you can get. Also, check with your Labor board to find out your responsibilities to a live-in employee.

You can contact your local Area Agency on Aging for resources, or Care.com for aids. You can get honest recommendations from Nextdoor.com (an intranet of your actual, non-anonymous community of neighbors). You also need to plan for the eventuality of not being able to manage your care in the future: you need to assign a PoA, have an Advance Healthcare Directive, and a Will with a named Executor. Otherwise social services will get involved and a judge will assign you a 3rd party legal guardian, which in my family's experience was an appropriate solution.
