They say they are monitoring the phone so she doesn't call the police or something. She is very distressed. Claims that one girl is abused her and is very perfect about what she did to my mother. The story never changes. I have spoken to the home. They are saying they will keep her away from my mum. My mum is in there alone feeling frightened of the staff. Investigation pending... I am absolutely beside myself. I feel sick. My mums wedding rings have gone. And regardless of the mind they never came off . Her watch also disappeared. I have never know her to not wear it ever. The watch is a very expensive watch. It didn't seem right to take them off her when. She went there. I never gave it a thought because I never seen her take rings off that's for sure. Watch only when I replaced the battery. They say my mum is confused and they have no record of the watch. If I could provide a photograph to them of mum wearing it... really unhappy with it all. I dont know what more I can do to protect mum apart from moving care homes. Then worried it may cause her more distress.... HELP...

Ask to see the inventory of the items mom came in with.

If this was not done, this is a very poorly run operation and you want to move your mom.

Do call the police and report the theft. Does mom have homeowner's insurance with a rider for her jewelry?

You say that the wrings and watch are missing. I am assuming this is reported to the police now with a police report done.
Often phones are monitored because confused patients DO call the police. This would not be unusual to happen.
I think with your reporting you are doing what you can, and am so sorry. It is always better that expensive jewelry remain at home, tho elders won't give up their wedding sets in many cases. People are often poorly vetted and poorly paid in nursing homes. And while often it is the senior who is demented and wrong (my bro had a good deal of paranoid thinking with his Lewy's dementia) it can often also be that they are prey to the nefarious among us.
I wish you the best of luck in this investigation. If there are thefts happening here then your own report will be added to that of others. Ask to speak to the Ombudsman.
If your Mom is self pay it will be easier to move her. If she is on Medicaid it may be more difficult. I sure wish you luck.

So sorry for your mom's distress! An inventory of personal belongings should've been taken when your mom first arrived; to prevent exactly what's happening.

If Mom isn't feeling safe, move her. Staying in that facility will literally make her sick. Next they'll be wanting to sedate her!

If you're in the US, take your concerns to the Ombudsman for the facility and possibly your State's health commission agency. It's probably not ethical to withhold personal property without giving family the option to take it home.
Best wishes to you all💚

No, they do not have a right to take her phone away. There was a member who when it was suggested time for her parent not to have a phone, she said the State says a person is allowed their phone. You can't take it away.

Has she been calling the police? There are ways to stop that by setting the phone that only certain #s can be called. Parental settings.

Yes, I would wonder why her rings were taken off. First, if one was her diamond, I would never have sent her with it. Watch either. I would ask the police if you can file a report. I would also look for another place for Mom.
