Well in 1995 I was only 14. I was put in states custudy and my sister and her boyfriend had not helped my dad he broken his hip and got staples thay never brought him to the dr. They were charged he was found pad locked in room tv and phone took out he rotted to the bed but lived when thay found him he was embedded to his bed when magnets and roaches they had to take him in the hospital in the ambulance whiskey mask he was mangled in his sheets my sister and her boyfriend was toward I'm forcing my daddy didn't act right then but Rich later he did my sister name is using in the collecting him for his money and Social Security and he signed some papers saying that it's okay for them to not charge them for the state never picked it up. I'm living with mental distress depression for a long time now they all medications have flashbacks and I worry about why my sister and her husband never went to jail or never did anything to them for what they did to my father. I'm only asking this is because I really want to open the case and find out why wasn't they charged and why the state didn't get this up this is serious to me as my father. I was young at the time I wasn't able to do anything to save him but now since I'm older and I'm in my right state of mind a little I want to make sure I can try to find some way or someone can help me understand what can I do. Why can the state drop charges on a neglect turn Elder if it was papered it was in the newspaper the police came in it was a bad day for everybody. I don't understand how they can let him drop charges on them and they still living in the life of not good but my life is traumatized because of it.

How old was your sister when this happened, Emelda? Why was your father in her and her boyfriend's care?

As you were only fourteen, I expect there were a good many things going on that wouldn't have been comprehensible to you even if people had taken the time to explain them. It certainly sounds as if this must have been a terrible experience for a young teenager to live through.

What happened to your father later on? Is he still alive now?

So sorry for your problem. I get the impression that ur sister is now married and they are doing well, in some respect, because they took advantage of your Dad.

I would do what Worried says. But, it looks like your Dad would not press charges. Because of that, the case wouldn't have gone forward.

What happened to Dad? Did the State take over his care? Or did he pass away?

At this point its been 25 yrs. I doubt if u can open up the case now. Maybe when u were 18 you could have done something because their actions effected you but its too late now.

I think you need to let it go. Have no dealings with sister if it makes it better for you. Get some therapy and move on. In the end, we need to do for ourselves. We can't continue to blame others, believe me it will effect ur future. I have a friend who is 70 and its always someone else's fault. She has estranged her sons and friends. Never remarried. You don't want to be this woman. She is sick and lonely. Because its always someone else.

Why 25 years later? The statute of limitations has run its course. I would like to suggest therapy so you can move past this.

This sounds a bit confusing to me. Are you trying to press charges? Not sure that I understand what you are asking. Sorry. Best of luck to you.

You don’t need to re-open the case in order to find out what happened. You can request a copy of the police report(s) from agency that handled the investigation and contact the district attorneys office to see why they didn’t pursue the case. Since this happened 25 years ago, it may take some time to get the reports. Your post is difficult understand but it sounds like your dad declines to press charges. If that’s what happened, that’s likely why they weren’t charged or the charges were dropped. Good luck!
