Mother is incontinent. I purchased booster pads to augment absorbency of her disposable briefs. But the caregiver staff where she lives asked me to purchase the waterproof backed Poise pads instead. I don’t understand how this will be helpful and we can’t afford to waste money. What has worked for you?
What they are asking to be done is not acceptable. It is called "double brief" and it is a LAZY way to care for people. They should have her and everyone else on a bathroom schedule. Every 2 hours a trip to the bathroom. The brief gets checked and changed if necessary.
It might be possible that a Tab brief would be easier for the staff to change rather than a pull up type brief. The pull up type brief the pants need to be removed, this often means having to remove shoes as well, where the tab type you can pull the pants down a bit, remove the tab brief and put another on while the person is standing then pull the pants back up. I could do a change in under 1 minute start to finish.
If they insist on a liner then get the type that is not waterproof backed but I would not give in on the double brief.
There are better brands of briefs that are more absorbent but of course they are usually pricier, some of the adult incontinence suppliers will send you samples to try.
